Flat battery? We'll get you started

We come to you, get you going safely and then test your battery and charging system, so you know whether it'll start again tomorrow and aren't just crossing your fingers.

Call us when

  • You turn the key and just get a click, or nothing at all
  • The dashboard lights flicker or go dim when you try to start
  • The car's been sat for a few weeks, or you're back from holiday
  • The lights or something plugged in were left on overnight
  • It's the first properly cold morning of the year

What happens

What you can expect

  1. 01

    Started safely

We connect using your car's proper jump points in the right order. That matters on modern cars full of electronics, and especially on stop-start models.

  2. 02

    Battery tested

Once you're running, we test the battery's health. A battery that's been fully flattened can be damaged, and it's better to know now than tomorrow morning.

  3. 03

    Charging checked

We check the alternator is charging properly. If it isn't, a new battery won't fix it, and we'll tell you straight.

  4. 04

    Replaced if needed

If the battery's failing, we can supply and fit a new one there and then, with the price agreed before we fit it.

Questions

Jump starts: your questions

Can a jump start damage my car?

Done properly, using the manufacturer's jump points and the right sequence, it's safe. The risk comes from doing it wrong, which is why we use proper kit and test everything afterwards.

How long should I drive after a jump start?

Ideally 30 minutes or more of proper driving, not just a trip round the block. Even then a badly flattened battery may not fully recover. Our battery test tells you whether it will.

What if the car still won't start after a jump?

Then it's likely something other than the battery, like the starter motor, fuel or an electrical fault. We'll talk you through the options, including recovering it to a garage, with the price agreed first.
